User Registration Help
This document covers the help information for user registration for all NetCove
user accounts.

Why am I creating a NetCove account?
To access certain services of NetCove and the NetCove Community sites, you need
to have an account.
The first of these community sites is KenoshaNow.com.
Corporate clients may also have a non-user business account.
By having a central repository for user accounts, it allows these accounts to
access features across all sites supported by NetCove.

Why is NetCove collecting so much information?
There are several pieces of information being collected by NetCove. Some of
these are required, some are optional. The Fields userid and password are
required to identify your specific user account. The Email address is
required in case NetCove needs to reach or inform the user. This will be used
in the case of a password reset or notification of a password change. This way, if the user themselves did not
make the change, they will be notified and can then call support to determine if abuse
of the account has occurred.
The security fields of
Question and answer (along with the user's Date of Birth) allow NetCove to
provide the user an automated way to
reset their password should they forget it. It also gives NetCove an
opportunity to verify an account. For example: During a support call.
Other pieces of information like name, address, and phone allow NetCove to
personalize certain features of our sites and to determine geographically
where are users are located. NetCove will never user your information for
unsolicited sales or sell your information to anyone (especially marketing
groups) without your direct consent.
The Date of Birth is required as there are state and federal laws against
collecting information from children under 13 years of age. NetCove
currenly does not allow user registrations from anyone under the age
of 13 to ensure conformance to these laws. It is our intent to
allow children to register for accounts with the approval of their
registered parents/guardians. This feature is under development.
The Date of Birth is also used as a verification point for password resets.

User ID
Your User ID is your account name for accessing all NetCove (and NetCove related sites)
services. Your User ID
can contain Letters, Numbers, and the underscore (_) character.
It must be 5-20 characters long. Your User ID is not case sensitive.

Password
Your password is the key to accessing your account. Your password can be between 8 and 32 characters.
Your password can contain Letters, Numbers, Spaces, and the underscore (_) character. Although NetCove
currently allows passwords to contain only letters, it is advisable that these passwords be longer
than the minimum. A strong password should either contain both letters and numbers or be long - or both.
A good idea for a password is a sentence you can remember. For example: "My password is secure" is a
strong password due to it's length. For a short password you could use something like "k3n0shan0w".
For security, your password is never transmitted or stored in open text. NetCove uses an MD5 encryption algorithm
on your password before it is sent over the Internet. NetCove can not see or recover your password. You will
be able to a self reset or change of your password using your Date of Birth and the Security Question and Answer.
Due to the fact that the password is never visible, you are asked to confirm it by entering it a
second time. There is no way for NetCove to look up your password for you, nor can we send it to you.

Security Question & Answer
The Security Question and Answer is a second check available to verify your account.
If you need to speak with NetCove support, we may ask you to verify this information. This
check is also used to self validate your account should you forget your password and need
to reset your password.

Date of Birth
Your Date of Birth is required to ensure compliance with the
Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule.

Email
Enter your primary contact Email address. It is important to enter a correct Email address as it is
the primary (and in most cases) only method for NetCove Administration to reach you for
information about your account. All correspondence such as account creation and account change
notifications will be sent to this address. Password reset requests will generate an Email containing
a security code in a link that must be followed to successfully reset a password.
This account will not be added to any email lists or sold
to any marketing groups without your explicit approval.

First and Last Name
(optional) Enter your First and Last names.

Address
(optional) Enter your Address (second line if necessary), City, State and Zip code. If you enter
an 9 (5+4) digit zip code, you can enter it as 9 digits or with a space or hyphen between the first
5 and last 4 digits.

Gender
(optional) Select Male or Female from the selection box.

Phone Number
(optional) Enter your 10 digit phone number. 3 digit area code and your seven digit phone
number. You can use many formats to enter your number.

Email Updates and New Features
Selecting this option will put you on a mailing list for news and updates to NetCove and related sites.
An example of this would be releases and/or updates to tools or significant site updates.
All selections can be changed through account maintenance.

Business Directory Notification
NetCove is working on an Online Business Directory for KenoshaNow.com. Selecting this
option will add your account to the mailing list for the release and/or updates of this tool.
